How to maximise your productivity at University

How to maximise your productivity at University

Carrot Magazine provides top tips on how to make the most of studying and how to beat the upcoming assignment stress at University.

Time Management:

Following a timetable can be very helpful to make sure you have enough time to get through all your assignments. Make a weekly timetable or go far ahead as a month – whatever you feel like works for you in terms of managing your time well.

A timetable can double up as a to-do list so you know exactly what you need to complete, and let’s be honest the satisfaction of ticking off our to do lists is the best feeling ever! One of my favourite timetable apps is My Study Life. You can install it onto your phone which makes following your timetable even easier when you’re constantly on-the-go.

Breaks:

Don’t forget about those much needed breaks in between lectures at University!

It is just as important to take breaks whilst studying so that you don’t overwork yourself, which we all know happens during all-nighters. For a nice breath of fresh air, go outside for a walk and enjoy the moment away from your phone and social media. This will help you stay focused and become more clear minded, which is just what you need before studying for an important assignment.

Go grab your favourite snack, the healthier the better, but of course treating yourself to a chocolate bar after ticking your to-do list does no harm at all!

Library:

Make use of the facilities University has to offer, one of them being the library.

Use the library during your breaks and in-between lectures so that you can complete work whilst you’re already in work mode rather than postponing it until later when you’re at home. We all know there’s nothing worse than returning home to a bucket load of work after a long day at University.

Make sooner rather than later your goal and you will be thanking yourselves.

City Sport:

Why not try out the gym which is a short walk from Northampton Square?

Try joining a sports team, this is a great way to stay active whilst also meeting new people. Not only will this help relieve stress and tension but it is also a great opportunity to hang out with friends.

If you don’t want to commit to regular sports then you can always go and play a game of basketball or two with your friends whenever you like. This will help you to look after your physical and mental health midst the assignment stress.

Study Groups:

Studying in groups with your friends from your course can help to make studying more fun by adding a social aspect whilst also working on those tough assignments. This approach can help reduce anxiety by making studying more fun and helping you to relax because everyone is on the same boat as you. Of course, productivity is subjective on the approach you and your study group take, taking into consideration the right positive working environment.
